The NBA has approved the sale of the Dallas Mavericks to casino moguls Miriam Adelson, Sivan, and Patrick Dumont. The Adelson and Dumont team runs the Las Vegas Sands Corp., which now has casino operations only in Macau and Singapore.
A joint statement released by the Adelson and Dumont families stated, “Through our commitment and additional investment in the team, we look forward to partnering with Mark Cuban to build on the team’s success and legacy in Dallas and beyond.”
Cuban bought the Mavericks in the early 2000s after becoming a billionaire by selling his radio internet streaming company to Yahoo. Cuban said that this recent sale of his majority stake in the Mavs would make revenue from media rights deals much less of a concern.
Cuban will remain head of basketball operations and have the final say in hiring and firing coaches. Patrick Dumont told Cuban that he wanted to win and for Cuban to do what he needed to do to make that happen.
Are Casinos Legal In Texas?
No legislation has passed allowing commercial casinos to operate in Texas; however, the Adelson’s have pushed for litigation. Three tribal-owned casinos operate in Texas, but only specific gaming options are available.
Legal casino states, including Oklahoma and Louisiana, also surround Texas. However, for most players, online casino gambling is the best way to play real money casino games without traveling.
Are 18+ Online Casinos Legal In Texas?
There are no laws in Texas that outlaw online gambling from sites outside of the state; however, it is requested that TX players only gamble with licensed and trusted 18+ online Texas casinos.
Online casinos offer the same classic games in commercial casinos powered by random number generators. Trusted casino sites obtain licensing from government-assisted agencies that test security protocols and fair gaming practices. Once an online casino site passes its licensing requirements, a compliance record is issued, assuring online players the site is safe and appropriate.
While a handful of states allow 18+ online casinos from domestic casinos, Texas will have to first pass legislation to allow commercial casinos before that obstacle can be challenged.
