Caesars Casino in Danville Opens Its Doors With Parade

Caesars logoThe Old Dominion state is opening its third casino today in Danville.

The wait is finally over, as Caesars Casino (Danville) plans an opening-day celebration that will include a parade through the city followed by speeches from Caesars Entertainment executives, Eastern Band Cherokee Indian representatives, and other various community leaders.

The parade will conclude in front of the casino, where speakers will discuss the casino’s community goals before opening the doors to the public. It will start at 10:15 at the corner of Main and Craghead Street. Former NBA star Dennis Rodman will be the parade’s master of ceremonies. Speeches are scheduled for 11 am, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The day will be topped off with fireworks and a drone display at 8 pm.

Chris Albrecht, the General Manager of Caesars Virginia, told the media that he expects the casino resort to boost local tourism in the coming years and attract thousands of visitors on opening day.

Virginia’s Casino History

Casino gaming facilities were first legalized by the General Assembly in 2020, requiring local voters to pass a referendum supporting a casino. Five casinos are permitted to open in the following years.

Currently, two local VA casinos are in operation: Rivers Casino Portsmouth and Hard Rock Bristol. Rivers was the first casino to open in the state in January 2023, and Hard Rock Bristol opened in November 2024.

Caesars Casino

Caesars is the third casino to open since legislation passed in 2020. The new facility will host 1,500 gaming machines and 79 table games. The adjacent resort will have more than 300 rooms and host a Ramsey’s Kitchen restaurant.

Caesars will have whole class III gaming options that include slots, blackjack, poker, craps, roulette, baccarat, and specialty games. There will also be an in-person and online sportsbook for guests over 21.

Online Virginia Casinos

Virginia hasn’t passed online casino legislation but does not outlaw gambling. 18+ VA casinos have been accepting players since the early 2000s and have built a reputation as the best online gambling option for many players, especially those under 21.

Since no federal or state gambling laws forbid offshore sites from operating online, the 18+ casinos we review all accept VA players over 18 and offer real-money casino games. You can find numerous bonus rewards, tournaments, and live table games.
