Travelers going south on Interstate 15 from Vegas toward Los Angeles will soon be without one of their most iconic roadside attractions. Whiskey Pete’s Hotel & Casino recently announced that its doors are closed.
Affinity Interactive, the parent company of Whiskey Pete’s, Primm Valley Resorts, and Buffalo Bill’s, released a statement saying “it temporarily closed Whiskey Pete’s Casino to feature new and ongoing investments.” They also reiterated that Primm Valley Resorts’ realignment is part of an effort to develop amenities that will better suit new and current customers.
Whiskey Pete’s has not released a statement on whether it will reopen. For hotel reservations, the website currently redirects to Buffalo Bill’s, a sister company.
The now iconic hotel and casino, located just 25 miles south of Las Vegas on the California border, first opened to the public in 1977. The property boasted over 1,200 rooms in a castle-like structure, 300 gaming machines, and an on-site sportsbook.
